Amazing You!
Amazing You! is a comprehensive sexual education and awareness program. The goal of Amazing You! is to increase knowledge among Kenyan children about body privacy, healthy relationships, gender equality, sexual misconduct, sexual and reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, and STDs, to reduce vulnerability and promote equality. Currently, more than 25,000 children across 25 secondary schools in Malindi are enrolled in the Amazing You! program.Wings of Love
Education is incredibly important and is something everyone is entitled to. Without proper education, children face challenges with employment and income later in life. At our school, Wings of Love, 125 children receive quality education and two healthy, warm meals on a daily basis. A colorful school building with 4 classrooms, 5 kind and smart teachers, proper play and learning materials, and an outdoor play area makes this school a place where young children can learn through play.Next to You!
Next to You! is a special program for girls and boys who are or have been abused and/or mistreated. Together with them, we work on strengthening their resilience. By meeting regularly, we serve as a support group. We also offer trainings during these sessions, in which we teach children and youth about human rights, self-esteem, needs, gender stereotyping, social norms, emotions, setting boundaries and being assertive. The overall goal of Next to You! is to enhance resilience.Better Together
The church is not just a place for weekly services, it is also a place where all kinds of groups – including children, youth, and women – come together, be together and experience life together. Knowledge and ideas are exchanged, there is dancing and singing, and people connect with each other, every day of the week.Down to Earth
To strengthen the self-reliance of a group of women in Mtangani, we cultivate vegetables, corn, and potatoes together on a piece of land near Malindi. Twice a year, during planting season, the land needs to be tilled and seeded, which requires not only a lot of work but also seeds and fertilizer.Side by Side!
Side by Side! is a special program for young girls who have fallen victim to sexual violence and as a result, are pregnant or have recently given birth. In many cases, these girls are ostracized by their families, and their future opportunities are limited. To offer these young mothers a chance to improve their self-reliance, our priority is to educate them about their situation and help them complete their schooling. Side by Side! consists of guided coaching sessions that cover essential topics such as pregnancy, childbirth, and shaping life with a child. Additionally, we offer daycare for the children of these young mothers, ensuring their children are cared for while they continue their education.Hand in Hand
In our cozy workshop, a group of wonderful women comes together daily to work on various projects. They create mango-wood spoons, palm leaf and sisal baskets, handwoven cushions, and much more. Besides earning their own income this way, it is also a space where they can share both their concerns and their joy. There's creating, laughing, and crying.Believe to Achieve
We are eager to offer talented children the opportunity to attend secondary school whenever possible. We do this through special scholarships, where we encourage the children to contribute as well. For instance, those participating in the Next to You! or Side by Side! programs can save part of their earnings from part-time jobs towards their scholarship. This way, we share the responsibility together.Out of Love
The book Out of Love takes you on a journey through Kenya, the country we have visited for many years with so much love. Jet, Rachel, and Simone had one goal in mind: to introduce others to the people, landscapes, colors, and even the scents of this special place on earth. As soon as you hold the book, you almost feel transported to the country; the cover feels like the warm red soil, and the open binding reflects the purity of the land. The authors describe their travel experiences, depict street scenes with intriguing photos, and express their feelings about the country through paintings. You can even smell and taste Kenya through the local recipes included in the book.
